Kind: I buy tissue paper and donate money to handicap street performers.
Cheerful: I smile and crack jokes everyday :D
Independent: I took care of my schoolwork since primary school without the monitor or help of any adults. It might be because i live with my grandparents since young, both of them are illiterate so i had only myself to depend on.
Friendly: I greet my friends with a smile :D During the six months break, i had a job as a PC promoter in the IT fair. A customer and his son came along looking for a laptop. The customer told me that the reason for approaching me instead of other promoters was because i looked friendly and i am friendly.
Out of the ones that i scored 3, i like best about myself is optimistic, helpful and cheerful.
Optimistic: There bound to be ups and downs of anyone's life and i've been through some tough times. The one characteristic that kept me going is my optimism. It not like i'm never sad, but it is how i handled the emotion and what i told myself after the unpleasant incident. I love my everything-will-be-oh-so-fine thinking.
Helpful: I never fail to feel good after helping someone in need. If i turn away from someone that it is within my ability, i'll feel very guilty. Like for example, the people selling tissue on the streets, if i walk away without buying, the sense of guilt will come along because my $1 might have helped them secure one meal when i might have spent the dollar away on something useless.
Cheerful: Being cheerful makes my life interesting and makes me anticipate the following day.
(ii) From the list of adjectives that you scored 0, write down the ones you would like to improve. How are you going to develop these characteristics?
The ones i scored are the negative traits and i hope i'll never have the chance to develop them :)Out of the list : SHY. And i have low self confidence on the way i speak. I'm not a born natural speaker and i am really envious of those who articulate and express their feelings well. I have zero confidence on my impromptu skills so I tend to keep a low profile during public presentations. I may have the answers, but I don't stand out to answer questions because i'm afraid to speak. To make things worse, i talk nonsense and i tend to speak very quickly that my words are jumbled up when i'm nervous. But when i'm in my comfort zone, i'm literally a "big trumpet". I talk alot when i'm with my friends.
The discussion made me understand and think about myself. Before the discussions, i never knew that there was so much of me for me to explore into. It also helped me to know what my friends think about me and i think this is very important. I might have unrealistic or false perceptions about myself. The comments they give can correct me and bring myself back to the "real world". The discussions made me troubleshoot on my weakness, and i'll work on it to make it into a strength :)
Imagine yourself in 5 years time. What positive things would you like people to remember you for? How different are you “today” compared to the “you five years from now”? What are the obstacles or fears that you have to overcome to become the “you five years from now”? How do you intend to overcome them?
I would like people to remember my competency. Being a future accountant will definitely need determination and hard work. So, i have to have extra discipline in order to be outstanding. The biggest obstacle around now is my LAZINESS. I'll have to get myself on track every now and then. In order to achieve that, i will keep one goal in mind,
"TOP ACCOUNTANT IN SINGAPORE".
Also to remember the always positive and happy JieYing :D
